RetroScape ๐ŸŒ„

RetroScape is a procedural landscape synthesizer and 3D environment engine. It has over 50 generated worlds, controls for the atmosphere and solar system, and a built-in editor for making new biomes.

๐Ÿš€ How It Works

  • Pick a biome: Choose from more than 50 built-in biomes, from neon synthwave to tropic isles and alien landscapes.
  • Morph between them: Step through biomes with real-time morphing, or turn on Autoplay to cycle through them automatically.
  • Edit and save: Open the editor to change the noise, colours, post-processing effects, sky and weather. Save your work, export it as JSON, or share it as a link.

โœจ Key Features

๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Procedural Terrain Layered noise generates the landscapes.

  • Zones and roles: Combine floors, walls and cloud ceilings into one scene.
  • Transfer curves: Shape the noise into dunes, flat mesas or jagged mountains with the curve editor.

๐ŸŽจ Painting Colour the terrain with multi-stop gradient ramps. Colours, outline transparency and grid lines update on the geometry as you drag the sliders.

โ˜€๏ธ Solar System and Atmosphere

  • Celestial bodies: Add a sun, a moon with phases, or ringed planets with animated bands.
  • The cosmos: Set the stars, the Milky Way band and meteors.
  • Atmosphere: Adjust fog and ground mist for mood and depth.

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Weather

  • Rain and snow: Set the density, speed, size, angle and opacity.
  • Dust motes: Floating particles that catch the light. Size, drift and opacity are adjustable, and the highlights can be round or polygon-shaped like camera bokeh.
  • Weather is set per biome and fades in and out as you morph.

๐ŸŽฅ Post-Processing FX A drag-and-drop effects stack. Add and reorder Bloom, VHS, CRT Bezel, Chromatic Aberration, Scanlines, Pixelation, Heat Haze and more. Save stacks as presets and assign one to each biome.

๐ŸŒ€ Biome Morphing Switching biomes transitions the whole scene. Terrain, colours, sky gradients, sun and moon, stars, the Milky Way and weather all blend into the next world.

โš ๏ธ Requires a modern browser with WebGL.
